On our initial wander around after lunch we went to Millennium Park and came across one of Chicago’s most famous sites, the Cloud Gate.
It’s a sculpture by Anish Kapoor which reflects the sky and skyline. It looks like a massive drop of liquid sitting on the tarmac and it’s actually stunning. It was difficult on a sunny Saturday afternoon to get a good view without lots of other people around but it was still amazing.
The reflection in the Cloud Gate is almost better than the skyline itself.
We enjoyed taking photos of ourselves in the Cloud Gate and playing with the reflections. You can also walk underneath it and see reflections in the roof.
This is the view from Millennium Park down East Monroe Street where our hotel is. The road goes in the other direct down to the edge of Lake Michigan. You can see the El Train going across the road on raised rails.
