…it would be the Abraham Lincoln Museum in Springfield, Illinois.
However, this is not meant to be a criticism. The museum is excellent and takes all the best bits of presentation, multimedia, helpful staff, and well thought through spaces that Disney uses.
Mannequins and reconstructions abound but so do well presented videos, information boards and interesting volunteers.
By far the best things are the two shows which use projection, holograms, smoke, cannons and everything to tell the story of Lincoln and also the artefacts that bring his story alive. We loved it.
What was also brilliant was that they tried to present a well rounded view of the man, showing critics as well as the praise that you might expect.
We’ve learned something and also enjoyed ourselves. Can’t say better than that. National Trust take note?!
