Soaking up the atmosphere

Nashville, we worked out, is basically Blackpool but better. It’s certainly the hen do centre of Tennessee so far as we can tell. You can’t walk down Broadway without seeing groups of girls in match T-shirts with a ‘Mom’ being dragged along and pretending to have fun.

But all that said, the atmosphere is great. You can hear live music from all the bars on the street, and it makes for a pleasant buzz, and there are neon signs everywhere just adding to the Americana impression.

From here it’s just one block over to a parallel street which leads to the pedestrian bridge over the Cumberland River. We luckily didn’t attempt this until about 5pm otherwise we would have just melted. The views of Downtown are great.

To finish off the day we headed back to Broadway to find a bar to enjoy the atmosphere.

We headed to Robert’s Western World (left of Jacks BBQ in this photo above). By the way, the tall building in the background has been nicknamed ‘Batman Tower’ by the locals.

Western World is a boots shop by day and a bar by night. If you look closely you can see the boots on the shelves on the wall. We enjoyed a beer here while listening to some live music. A pleasing way to end the day in Downtown before heading back to our Airbnb.
