Memphis, Tennessee

We made it to Memphis this afternoon and to our Airbnb. It’s amazing! Will try and get some photos of the street tomorrow which is also lovely.

Following some advice on the incredibly hipster (but also very helpful) chalkboard in our room, we headed out for dinner.

On the way we stopped by a great little coin operated launderette, and it was only going to be marginally more expensive to pay for a service wash, so a lovely man did all our washing for us while we enjoyed some of the Memphis Saturday night scene!

We went to Babalu for Tacos as it was so highly recommended. It was also obviously highly recommended by a lot of people, so while we waited, we headed to Lafayette’s for a beer (or coke in my case – driving) and some live music as it was only next door.

Table ready back at Babalu we had really delicious food. They make the guacamole at the table and bring you fresh warm tortilla chips to dip. And we had some amazing mini tacos. Also, for the first time in ages, the food was a more normal portion size! Hurrah.

Swung by the launderette to pick up the washing on the way back to the digs. The man seemed most entertained by all Tom’s ‘cartoon socks’ which he had carefully paired up ready.
