The Shack Up Inn

We are here in Clarksdale, Mississippi at a place that Tom found online and announced we must visit. It’s called the Shack Up Inn. You can see why – here’s our home for tonight.

It’s a collection of old sharecropper shacks put together into a motel, surrounded by cotton fields. Even the old grain bins have become rooms.

It’s just down the road from the crossroads where, legend has it, Robert Johnson sold his soul to the devil for the ability to play the blues. It’s also on the Mississippi Blues trail.

For now we are enjoying a craft beer in their excellent bar and soaking up the old fashioned Americana.
